Well….this reminiscing thing happened.
I’d like to start by pointing out that yes, I do have two different time frames listed. The first one is really where I’m hoping you wonderful people can help me out.
2012-2017….what anime from that six year time frame would you recommend? Like I stated in the picture, I saw maybe three or four anime from 2012-2015, and only a small amount in the 2015-2017 span. While I saw some, I’m still angry at myself for straying away from something that I’m passionate about, something that I love, and something that is really just a medium for creators to get their work out into the world and have people either hate it or love it. I gave it up because I didn’t want people to think I was “that odd guy who like cartoons,” and some other bullshit thought I had in my head.
You know what?…..
FUCK THAT! (that’s not a word I like using in posts, but I’m emotional and angry with myself right now)….
Here’s a crappy list of what I enjoy:
- Slice of Life
- Action…to some extent
- Fantasy
- Drama
- Psychological
- School…yep, I love a good school setting
- Tragedy
Make me cry (seriously, I love a good slice of life/tragic show), make me feel for the characters, make me beg and plead and want to know what’s going to happen to the characters. Give me interaction between the characters so I can have a sense of purpose in the story!! While I enjoy action, I thoroughly enjoy “simpler” plots/premises that take a turn. Examples: Citrus, Charlotte, Kokoro Connect, The Ancient Magus’ Bride, ANGEL BEATS! *cries*
Yeah…so that’s that. If you have any suggestions I’d love to hear them!!
Thanks for reading!
Alexie 🙂
I want to recommend you Usagi Drop (also known as Bunny Drop). I think you would have a nice time 🙂

Here’s some recommendation if you haven’t seen them.
Some anime that comes to mind during that time frame is Noragami, and Noragami Arigato. Both really good action series with great characters, and a good story. Season 2 especially kicks things up a notch.
I would also recommend Little Witch Academia which is a fantasy, slice of life anime. The first half is episodic while the second half tries to tell an overarching story. I don’t think the second half is as good, but overall an enjoyable series.
Mahoujin Guruguru (2017) is a fantasy comedy anime that’s poke fun of JRPG, and is also a loving send up to those type of games. Plenty of fun, and the main characters are really likable. It doesn’t have much of an overarching story, but it knows that, and focuses a lot more on making the journey fun.
Parasyte -the maxim- I would also recommend. It’s good horrish series with a good story. It loses steam in the second half, but overall recommended.
Lastly, I would recommend March Comes In Like A Lion if you want a tearjerker. I personally didn’t find it that great because of the jarring tonal shifts, but everyone I know enjoys it a lot more than I do. It touches on some heavy themes so prepare for it to possibly hit you hard.

Thank you so much!! I’ve heard of all those but never saw them. I’ll be sure to check them out!

I’d happily recommend Hanasaku Iroha. It’s not necessarily a tear-jerker, but finishing it left me with a void that reminded me of the time I finished Angel Beats…
Now, I’m not sure what you have and haven’t seen. Other things that may match your list: Death Parade, Maid Dragon, Shirobako, Oregairu.

Oh, and you might like Orange too. I read the manga and thought it was alright, but many people cried from watching the anime.
