It’s me. I’m back! And I’m following you. Silently. Creeping. Walking on the balls of my feet…ready to pounce!
Just kidding. That would be…awkward. And I’d probably get thrown in prison for stalking and battery, and whatever else…
AaaaannnnyyyyWAY………
I hope you’ve all been well! In the last few days I realized something while waking up from a dream. In my most broken times, I stray away from what I usually use as coping mechanisms for pain, loss, suffering, and whatever else and simply exist in a shell of myself. So, with that said, I’m here, and I’m ready to spew bullshit onto my blog for people to read again!
But, what have I been up to in the two weeks since I said I was going to be taking care of myself? Well, obviously I’ve been taking care of myself. Outside of that I’ve been doing what I usually do: reading, writing (sort of), watching anime (SO MUCH ANIME!), playing video games, and listening to music.
I’d like to continue spewing bullshit out of my fingers and laptop onto blog posts for y’all, so that’s what I’m going to do! Long intro: DONE
For the last few days I’ve been playing a game with my brother called Apex Legends. It’s a free-to-play, arena-based shooter with squads of three teaming up to eliminate the other players. It’s got that Fortnite feel to it where you start with nothing and have to pick up items and weapons on the map, but Apex Legends is also more advanced in certain ways. 1) You’re always in a squad of three no matter if you queue alone or with one other person; 2) There are weapon upgrades you can find throughout the map to go along with the weapons you find, which is very neat, I think in the fact that you can attach a scope or a smaller sight to a weapon that doesn’t have very good iron sights; 3) there’s a communication circle! Yes!
Now, I play on the Xbox One so my knowledge of how the PS4 and PC stuff works is all but nonexistent, but on the Xbox, you hold down the RB (or LB?) button (which is essentially the R1/L1 button on a PS4 controller), and that brings up a circle of announcements your character can make. Announcements like: People have been through here, enemies are located here, there’s loot here, I’m watching this direction, we should move to this spot, etc. It’s actually a lot of fun once you get used to how the game works, and I think the beauty of the game comes with the fact that in order to win (maybe that’s just my competitive aspect coming through) you must MUST communicate with your team.
Also, each playable character has a different skillset! One is defensive and has shields, another can track enemy footprints, another can make doppelgangers to confuse opponents…there are multiple options on how you can play the game. I thought about it after playing a few rounds with my brother and came up with this: Apex Legends is Fornite, Titanfall (without the mechs), and Borderlands all mixed into one game. That’s how it feels to me. And I am enjoying the hell out of it! I’ve yet to win (while my brother has won three or four times), but I enjoy it nonetheless. I’ve come close, though! Placed in the top five squads a handful of times, but never quite got to win the game.
Anyway, that’s what I’ve been playing recently, along with Kingdom Hearts 3 (WOOO!!!!) and Overwatch (yeah, I still play that. It’s somewhat enjoyable being a tank player). I’ve yet to beat KH3, but I haven’t fully played a Kingdom Hearts game since KH2, even though I’ve dabbled in the other games like Dream Drop Distance, 358/2 Days, Chain of Memories, and Birth by Sleep. So I sort of know the story. I had to watch the recap before playing KH3, though. All in all, KH3 is an enjoyable game so far! I’ve heard it brings the story to a solid conclusion, which I’m happy about–I just need to get to that point.
Also, I did cry when I heard the menu music. It had just been so long since I immersed myself in a Kingdom Hearts game I got overwhelmed with joy and broke down I was so happy.
Oh, and uh…if anyone really enjoys music and doesn’t have a major preference on what they listen to, I found an amazing rendition of The Parting Glass (one of my late friend’s favorite songs): Peter Hollens teams up with The Hound + The Fox for a trio of amazingness in this!!! It’s HERE!!!
I’m also going to be running a Dungeons and Dragons campaign soon (I may have said this before), so that’ll be fun. It’s my first time running a campaign, so I’m not totally sure what to do, but I’ll learn with most of the other new players. I think it’s going to be a blast! I can’t wait, and I’m actually getting twitchy and anxious from having planned on playing and having to wait to play…I just want to guide a friggin adventure already!!
Really that’s about all for me recently. I haven’t done much, but that’s the norm for me. Work, random games, reading, watching anime. That’s what I do.
I’ll be back with another random-ass post for you all soon!
Thanks for reading!
Alexie 🙂
Oh, another thing (sadly I’m adding this after first publishing): THANK YOU. Thank you.
To everyone who reached out to me with an ear to listen if I needed to talk, to everyone that understood why I took a break, to everyone that gave me their wishes of strength and positive well-being… You’re all amazing and your support meant more to me than I’ll ever let you know.
I’ve always wanted to play D&D with a crew, never met enough people who were really interested in it though. Have fun with that!

Thank you…I will have a blast! Hopefully I don’t get everyone killed right off the bat. It’ll be interesting to see what happens!
