Manga I Want…

Every year my dad’s side of the family does a gift exchange. All of the grandkids as we’re called (there’s me, my brother, and our six cousins–well, we’ve added a few more now through marriages and whatnot) have names drawn and we each have to get the person assigned to us a gift. And this year the highest amount we can get our person is $50 USD…which is out-freaking-rageous if you ask me. That’s actually a lot for a simple gift exchange in my mind, but whatever, that’s not the overall point of this post.

A few days ago my cousin asked me what I’d want as a gift, and really, I had no idea until today what I really wanted. And what I want is more manga! It’s been a dream of mine to collect every volume of Naruto just to say I have the complete series. I’ve been reading Haikyuu!! for some time and have the first two volumes, I have a manga called Kakegurui (which is actually intriguing to me), and a few others.

However, I think I narrowed my idea down to a few titles: The Promised Neverland (volumes 1 and 2), The Ancient Magus’ Bride (volumes 1-?), and Haikyuu!! (volumes 3 and 4). Yep, that’s really what I’d ask for. I don’t need my cousin to spend a lot on me, and really I’d much rather buy them myself because that way I can get as many as I want while going over the cost in my head, but if it’s a way to get manga then I’ll let my cousin get it for me, because I love my family and it’d be an awesome gift.

Anyway, that’s just a part of the list of manga that I’ve got in my head right now. The list I have on my phone is a bit bigger. That list has:

  • The Ancient Magus’ Bride
  • Assassination Classroom
  • Bungo Stray Dogs
  • Citrus
  • Deadman Wonderland
  • Death Note
  • Haikyuu!!
  • Highschool of the Dead
  • Noragami
  • The Promised Neverland
  • Orange
  • Seraph of the End: Vampire Reign
  • Toradora!
  • Uzumaki

I know there’s more that I want, but I haven’t written them down yet because I don’t want my “want list” to get too big at one time. And, to be completely honest, I don’t always remember what I tell myself I want since I do most of it in passing… Plus, I feel like I’ll want to collect every single volume of every single manga that I put on my list just to say I have complete series…which is insane, I know, but that’s a struggle I’m willing to undertake!

So, when I get the chance, I’m going to my bookstore to browse! I’ll probably pick up a few random volumes to see what they’re like, but I doubt I’ll add anything to my list. There’s so much content out there that I want and I will want…and I don’t think I’m ready for that kind of commitment!!!

Ahh!!

Anyway, that’s all from me! If you have any recommendations for manga (I’ll read almost anything if the first volume hooks me) or even light novels, because those are fun, too, that you enjoyed I’d love to hear them and I’ll most likely give them a shot myself!!

Thanks for reading!

Alexie 🙂

  1. I have a long list of manga I want, mostly to complete series atm, but there are some I want from start too. My problem is I constantly find new stuff so my complete list just gets longer and longer. I have started a page on my blog to try and keep track but it’s far from complete. (as if it will ever be) It’s nice though, to have a list. I think you have some nice choices on there, especially Promised Neverland is such a good manga.

    1. I love TPN… but it seems it’ll be ending soon. Shirai apparently said in an interview it’ll only be around twenty to thirty volumes, but at least it’s not full of random plotlines!

      1. I’m only on volume five actually. I follow the english releases so I have a lot to read then. 20-30 volumes are a lot of volumes, much more than a regular manga. I mean, very few manga can compare to Naruto or One Piece and such. I’m glad there will be an end to it.

  2. I don’t read manga very often, and when I do it’s usually online. I do highly recommend Ancient Magus’ Bride though – the manga is beautifully imaginative and sweet. I haven’t finished the anime, but I do believe I prefer the manga!

    1. I loved the anime for Ancient Magus’ Bride, which is why I decided I’d probably pick the manga up and read it! I just have so many that I want it’s hard to narrow it down on what to get first hahaha!
